GEORGE ZINK Born 30 Nov 1822 in Bedord Co., Pa.; Bied 5 March 1900 in Bureau Co., Illinois From The Zink Families of America by Dora Zink Kellogg In 1845, Catherine Thompson came overland with her parents to Illinois. George Zink left Pennsylvania in 1841 and went to Eastern Ohio in the fall of 1844, with his brother John and a brother-in-law. He went to Illinois, making the trip all the way on foot, leading a horse that carried his belongings. He settled in Bureau Co., Illinois where he resided at death. He is the son of Samuel Zink. Our subject came to the county in 1844 without anything but willing hands and a strong determination to succeed. For nearly three years he worked for John Stevens and Sons, and during that time he purchased eighty acres of land in Macon Township, and in 1848 settled on it. Through his industy Mr. Zink has added to his farm till now he owns 220 acres.
